Who We Are

Danielle Fleming/Founder

Raised in Charlotte, NC, Danielle Fleming is a passionate advocate for individuals with mental and developmental disabilities. A graduate of Livingstone College with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, she discovered her calling while working in a group home and has spent over 15 years serving individuals with special needs. In 2017, Danielle founded The Love Project NC to provide mentorship, inclusion, and empowerment for youth and families in her community. A devoted mother and woman of faith, she finds joy in cooking, exercising, listening to music, learning, and spending time with loved ones — always keeping God at the center of everything she does.

Our Love Board

Shelia is a retired office professional with over 20 years of experience across education, social services, finance, and trucking. A proud graduate of Livingstone College with a degree in Sociology, she brings wisdom, warmth, and strong communication skills to The Love Project NC. She enjoys music, cooking, decorating, and spending time with her family. Guided by faith, Shelia believes that with God, all things are possible.

Born and raised in Charlotte, NC, Brandie is a community-driven leader powered by faith, family, and purpose. After earning her bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Winston-Salem State University, she began her career in the pharmaceutical field before discovering her true calling as a birth doula and mentor. Inspired to be a voice for the voiceless, she founded Relax and Breathe Doula Care and later The Love Project NC, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering women, youth, and individuals of all abilities through love, inclusion, and advocacy.

Na’Brittany Byers is a wife, mother of three, and proud Charlotte native with a passion for empowering youth. A graduate of Johnson C. Smith University with a bachelor’s degree in Social Work, she is currently pursuing her master’s while serving as an academic advisor at Central Piedmont Community College. Dedicated to supporting marginalized youth, Na’Brittany strives to equip them with the advocacy, guidance, and life skills needed to reach their fullest potential. Her favorite quote by Maya Angelou reminds her to rise through every challenge with strength and purpose.

Born and raised in Concord, NC, Marvin Clowney is a graduate of Campbell University, where he studied Graphic Design and Computer Science. His most rewarding experience was serving as Program Manager for the Q Foundation, Inc. WIA Youth Program, where he built lifelong connections and worked closely with at-risk youth in Mecklenburg County. Now a proud member of The Love Project NC, Marvin brings his passion for mentorship and community empowerment to the team. A devoted father of three and proud grandfather, he enjoys staying active and living a healthy lifestyle to keep up with the family he loves.

Born and raised in Charlotte, NC, Carisse Turner is a dedicated mother, educator, and dance instructor. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Communication from Fayetteville State University. She has spent the past six years teaching special education while sharing her passion for dance at Precision Dance Center. Carisse’s journey with children began as a camp counselor and evolved into a lifelong commitment to mentorship and empowerment. Excited to join The Love Project NC, she looks forward to inspiring youth through the values of Dedication, Determination, and Discipline — reminding every child that they are seen, supported, and truly loved.
