Who We Are
Danielle Fleming/Founder
Hello everyone! My name is Danielle Fleming raised in Troutman NC. I graduated from Livingstone College with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. My junior year in college, I started working at a group home with individuals with mental illness. My first day on the job I knew this was my calling and I have been working with mentally challenged and special needs individuals for 15 years. In 2009, I moved back to Charlotte and started working at Metro School. In 2017, I transferred to Hopewell High School where I saw the need for mentorship. So, I decided to start this amazing nonprofit organization called “The Love Project NC”.
I am a mother of a wonderful, smart, and caring young lady, she motivates me every day to keep going. I love cooking, dancing, working out, learning, and spending time with family and friends. I am a very spiritual person who put God in the center of everything I do.
Our Love Board
“Your greatest self has been waiting your whole life, don’t make it wait any longer.” (Steve Maraboli)
I am grateful and excited to share my talents and gifts with the Love Project and to do the work that will help others unlock the doors to their skills and talents. Through my educational and professional experiences, personal trials, griefs, and losses, I eventually realized and developed a sense of awareness that I am valuable, or I wouldn’t be here, that I am ENOUGH.
My life centers on the principles of my faith in God, love for others, daily gratitude, and thankfulness.
Hello, I am Shelia a retired office professional with 20+ years of experience. I’ve had the opportunity to work in the fields of education, social services, the banking financial industry, and the trucking business.
I am a graduate of Livingstone College in Salisbury, NC, with a degree in Sociology.
In my spare time, I enjoy listening to music, cooking, decorating and spending time with my daughters, grandchildren, friends, and family. I believe with your belief and faith in God all things are possible.
I am thankful to be a part of The Love Project NC. I feel my past experiences will be essential in working with this organization providing opportunities for communication and services to help people throughout the community.
Hello, I’m Brandie, as a young girl living in the “Queen City, Charlotte” city life is what most people live for, but not me. I’m the opposite of a city girl. I’m powered by westerns, grits, Andy Griffin, and Jesus.
I’m obsessed with giving back to my community. After earning my bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Winston Salem State University, I found myself entering the pharmaceutical world to explore what I thought was my passion. Years later, after becoming a birth doula and a mentor I discovered that our younger generation of ladies were searching for love, value, acceptance etc. in all the wrong places. There was a need for a voice for the voiceless in 2016, Relax and Breathe Doula Care was born. Relax and Breathe Doula Care is an organization that provides non-medical, emotional, informational and physical support to pregnant people and their families by creating safe spaces and advocacy. Through the mentoring of pregnant teens, young adults and women in 2017, I embark on the vision of a young woman’s dream of starting a nonprofit organization called “The LOVE Project NC”.
Peace & Blessings. My name is Na’Brittany Byers. I am a wife and mother of 3 beautiful children. I received my bachelor degree in social work from the historical Johnson C. Smith University. Currently pursuing my masters degree, I look forward to providing marginalized youth in our community and surrounding areas with support, advocacy and the life skills necessary to be the best version of themselves! Being a Charlotte native, I am passionate about shaping the lives of those in need right in our very own “backyard”. I am employed as an academic advisor at Central Piedmont Community College.
My favorite quote is ” You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, and how you can still come out of it”! – Maya Angelou
My name is Marvin Clowney born and raised in Concord NC. I am a graduate of Campbell University where I studied Graphic Design and Computer Science. I have had a lot of career experiences but my favorite was being the program manager for the Q Foundartion, Inc WIA youth program. Not only did I develop relationships with people, I will consider family for life. I also got first-hand experience working with the most troubled youth in Mecklenburg County and learned about the many resources available to them. Two yrs ago I brought my talents to “The Love Project NC”.
I am a father of three talented beautiful children Kayla (20), Jade and Jacobi (18). I also have a beautiful granddaughter who just turned 1. All 4 of them keep me going nonstop but I love them to Life. I love to work out and I am committed to the process of staying in shape until my grandbaby has some babies and I’m going to be around in good enough health to enjoy them.
My name is Carisse Turner, and I am a proud mother of my 8-year-old daughter Caiden and my four-legged daughter Stormi. Born and raised in Charlotte, NC, I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Communication from Fayetteville State University. For the past six years, I have worked as a special education teacher and also share my passion for dance as an instructor at Precision Dance Center.
My journey with children began as a camp counselor in college, followed by two years in daycare, and then progressing through roles as a teacher assistant in CMS to my current position. I am excited to share my talents and gifts with The L.O.V.E Project. This will be my first year on The L.O.V.E Project team, and I am thrilled for the journey ahead. I am ready to be a helping hand in my community and cherish all the growth and inspiration we bring to our youth.
An important lesson I hold dear, taught to me by a huge inspiration in my life, is the three D’s: Dedication, Determination, and Discipline. I hope to share these skills and motivate the youth to know they are not alone, that they have support, and that they are truly LOVED!
